European Patent once again approved!

The Federal Patent Court Munich has fully approved the European Bilz patent (EP 165284) for Inductive Shrinking. At the oral proceeding of January 26, 2010, a competitor plea for anullement was dismissed. The approvement refers to another proceeding in 2007, where a similar plea of a competitor was dismissed for the first time.

Following joint product development and successful trials, VW has placed their trust in the new synchro generation SCK from LMT alliance partner Bilz.

Nellingen, 20.10.2009 – Every year, the VW engine plant in Salzgitter manufactures about 1.2 million engines. Whether drilling, milling or tapping, Volkwagen attaches great importance to constant process optimisation in manufacturing. Over 50 percent of the production in Salzgitter is working with minimum quantity lubrication and dry processing for reasons of efficiency and due to environmental considerations. However, an urgent review of the MQL tools at VW was necessary in the tapping processes, due to the problems of aerosol leakage from insufficiently sealed tapping chucks. On the search for an optimal technical solution, VW turned to LMT and their alliance partner Bilz as the clamping tool expert.
In close cooperation with VW Salzgitter, the specialists from LMT and Bilz developed the perfect solution in the form of the optimised synchro chuck SCK for MQL applications..
